Portobello Visions

My visual record of Portobello Beach, observing
the changing atmosphere and mood of this special place.

These images fall into two categories. Simple photographs, and enhanced (computer manipulated) photographs. With both types, very little is done to the original image; adjustments to the contrast and brightness, small shifts in the colour density - no more than is available through traditional photographic processes. The photographs are printed on photographic paper. The enhanced photographs have a watercolour filter applied to them, and are then printed on watercolour paper. Though I have given a lot of my original work away to family and friends as Christmas presents, more recently I have exhibited and sold both types of print. I don't work to order; I take pictures when I am drawn to it, responding to the scenes that unfold rather than setting up a shot. In a sense all I am doing is recording what is there, to share it with others. Below is a small, varied selection of my work.
